linear notes from homespun ~

well....back in February we lost Ian McDonald of King Crimson and later Foreigner. Ian actually helped form King Crimson which i for one am quite thankful for as Fripp & Co. have captured my ears for some time now. Ian also played on T-Rex's "Bang A Gong (Get it on)" and was a session musician all over the place and returned to 'Crimso Camp' on their album RED.

anyway....earlier this year i sent Chris a mix of some acoustic 12 strings and voices with a drum loop from Sneeze (Tom Morgan) and then i met up with Chris at his "Shrimp Shack" studios where Chris went to work in adding several electric guitars as well as Bass and Banjo. (Chris really pulled the guitars into 'Frippville' which i think tickled us both...)

and then...Chris doorstepped me a killer mix of our efforts. so this morning i loaded it up back into my recorder and added an extra lead voice to give it some oomph i felt it needed as it was a lower key/lead voice. and for gits and shiggles i added a Lowery Organ with Leslie in the closeout verse/outro and now we can call this thing done.

* the original take of this tune is such a great acoustic McCartney type folk number that i needed to yank this elsewhere or not give it a go at all...from the glorious album "McDonald & Giles" from 1970. (my white label Island promo Vinyl could be one of the first records reached for if homespun caught fire). Michael Giles' drumming is filthy good on this record and he plays drums on many great albums that i know of anyway (Larry Norman's "So Long Ago the Garden" comes to mind and could be the second album grabbed if homespun received a bomb threats)

sound as ever and crank'errrrr up under phones if you got'em.
