linear notes from homespun ~

...on a rare occurrence anymore i spent some time in the homespun music room tuning up guitars and flipping amps on to see if they still rolled which led to my cranking up the old tascam recorder and pioneer cd deck i use to make mix downs. i am happy to report most of the gear was operable and just a few things needed the fonzie type touch to steer them right or to burn a bit until the lead was out.

...after digging in the machine for a tune to test the rig i found this tune which felt done so i mixed this down today. it must have been "done" as every track on my 24 track recorder was gobbled up in parts though i never make track sheets....life is indeed full of surprises.

...the first and oldest thing i remember was my friend Michael Serpe and i recording his bass and my acoustic guitar part nose to nose with that little rumba drum loop i played on the muttly drum kit of homespun. i remember how elated we became as the drum loop was reversed on another track in the fade and it sync'd up masterfully without our control and we smiled as it bubbled out of our headphones. we got such a charge from that and the fade also holds Michael P really rolling on his Stratocaster so the ending remains in all it's glory...no fades for this outfit.

...subsequently the talents of Cassie Van Gelder, Mchael P, Michael Santander, and the Mightiest of the Mighty Joel Ford all graced this take. i got a charge out of so many parts i had forgotten that were deposited here and went to work mixing.
