about

linear notes from homespun ~

...not too many years ago i would have told anyone that might inquire that the fall is the most reflective time of year for me with all the letting go and release involved in things. then in the last near decade the spring became laced with dates of departures. arrivals, or in Harper's case, both. the spring now holds the most reflection of loved ones gone. Harper comes to mind so much in my life that as i age i cannot help but wonder who she could be now at 9 years of age. i teach guitar to kids @ work on Thursdays that are even near her age at times. would she have taken to guitar? would she have taken to any of the questionable artists dad is captivated by?

...the last question sets up this tune written by jeff lynne for his very first record in 1968. the idle race's "the birthday party" album which begins the great catalog jeff has built down through the idle race, the move, ELO, and the traveling wilburys and a whole other pile of records produced by lynne. this is my hack send up of the title track of that record.

one thing is for certain Harper would have figured out her dad's love for all things Lynne. (smile)

i've worked so very hard to let the sweetness of those i have said goodbye to rise above the pain but in the end it remains a package deal for me. may nothing be lost upon me...
